Record number of vessels in NOR 05.27.2010
For the first time since its establishment on August 1st 1992 The Norwegian Ordinary Ship Register- NOR counts more than 15 000 vessels.
The positive trend in the number of new registrations has been steady for a couple of years now and voluntary registration of recreational vessels under 15 meters make up the bulk of the increase. For this latter group major changes have also been introduced which among other things has led to a more simplified registration process:

1 July 2007, the lower limit for the registration of pleasure vessels was lowered from 10 to 7 meters

As of 1 January 2010 the requirement for physical measurements of the same vessels ceased to exist
