How to enter your search key
Search for vessel name: Type full (exact) or part of the vessel name. The result will list all vessels that have your search criteria somewhere in the vessel name. Do not use designations like 'M/V' in your search. If you are not sure about spelling, spaces or hyphens in the name, use only a part of the name. If your keyboard does not have the Norwegian letters Æ, Ø, Å, use the following conversions: Æ=%, Ø=%, Å=%. For example, to search for the name VÆRØY, type V%R%Y in the search window.
Search Alternatives:
BERGEN = all ship names that contain "BERGEN".
BERGEN% = all ship names that begin with "BERGEN".
%BERGEN = all ship names that end with "BERGEN".
NB! Each search result will be limited to 100 vessels.
Search for call sign: Type the Norwegian call sign directly, without spaces, hyphens, slashes, commas, colons, etc. between the numbers or letters of the call sign.
Search for IMO no.: Type the 7-digit international IMO numbers. directly, use only numbers (do not use the letters IMO or any other letters), do not use spaces, hyphens, slashes, commas, colons. etc. All NIS vessels have IMO numbers, but the majority of NOR vesssels do not have IMO numbers.
Please note:
- There will always be a delay before a registration will appear online.
- Registrations that have been started, but not completed will contain the entry "Status....THIS JOURNAL ENTRY IS NOT COMPLETED!"
- Registrations that have not been checked by the Registrar will contain the entry "Registrar OK?...NO".
Complete confirmation of a vessel's status will therefore always require direct contact with the register.
Most entries to the register are made by standard codes which are automatically translated to English. However, this is not true for free text entries, which will appear in Norwegian only.
Questions about these entries should be directed to the Register.
